Voting is already underway for Vermont party primaries, with Primary Day on August 13th. This represents your best opportunity to address issues around housing, public safety, and affordability by utilizing your right to vote! Candidates who win their contests on August 13th will be on the ballot on November 5th.

It’s Easy to Work Voting into Your Schedule in Vermont!

You have two options for voting:
  1. Early voting, either by mail or in person, from June 29 to August 12.
  2. Voting in person at your designated polling place on August 13.

How and Where to Vote


Early Voting


Early voting is available from June 29 to August 12. You can request and submit your ballot in several ways:

Requesting Your Ballot:

  • In person at your town clerk’s office.
  • Online or by mail using a paper form from the Secretary of State’s Office website.

Submitting Your Ballot:

  • By mail.
  • Dropping it off at your town clerk’s office.

Early ballots must be received by your town clerk’s office by the close of business on August 12. If mailing, send it by August 5 to ensure timely delivery.

For the primary, you will receive ballots from the Democratic, Republican, and Progressive parties. Select one to complete, and return all three ballots, including the two unused ones, in the provided envelope.


Primary Election Day


To vote in person on August 13, locate your polling place on the Secretary of State’s Office website. Polls open between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
