Staff Spotlight: Tori Colarusso, Communications Manager, Leadership Champlain Program Manager

Tori manages all Chamber communications and marketing. She also heads up Leadership Champlain, the Chamber’s professional development and community engagement program. She is a native New Yorker and moved to Vermont after completing her B.A. in Political Science from the University at Albany to pursue a life nestled between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs, cycling, and traveling.

What three traits define you?
Compassionate, Perceptive, Loyal.

What is your personal philosophy?
Leave it better than you found it.

What is one thing you could not live without?
My dogs!

What is the one thing you cannot resist?
Live music.

Where is your favorite place to be?
Outside, surrounded by mountains and the people that I love.

What is your favorite thing to do?
I love to do a lot of things, but I really love seeing live music at outdoor venues. And kayaking!

Where is the best place you have traveled to and why?
Iceland – thermal hot springs, massive waterfalls, giant volcanoes, ancient glaciers, black sand beaches, and lava rock landscapes. The people were friendly and the history is captivating. I can’t wait to go back!

What is the weirdest job you have ever had?
Amusement Park Ride Operator.

What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?
GPS technology – I would be lost (literally) without Google Maps.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Wildlife Rehabilitator.

How do you define success?
Happiness.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Too hard to choose – one I frequently go back to is Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. “Song of Myself” is one of my favorite poems.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I’m from Albany, New York but I lived in the Midwest (St. Louis, MO) for a few years.
