Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film\, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner\, Alan Menken\, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright\, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs\, including “Under the Sea\,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.” \nAriel\, King Triton’s youngest daughter\, wishes to pursue the Prince\, Eric\, in the world above\, bargaining with the evil sea witch\, Ursula\, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems\, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends\, Flounder\, Scuttle\, and Sebastian to restore order under the sea. \nTickets range between $20 – $55; Student and Senior Rates available. Saturday’s evening performance features ASL translating for the hearing impaired\, and the Sunday matinee will be audio-described for patrons who are blind or visually impaired. This production is licensed by Music Theatre International. DESCRIPTION:Lyric Theatre Company presents the Tony award winning timeless tale of Into the Woods as part of their 49th season. This sophisticated musical features everyone’s favorite storybook characters\, intertwining their quests as they explore the consequences of having their wishes granted. \nThe story follows a Baker and his wife\, who wish to have a child; Cinderella\, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack\, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse\, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted\, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results as the lines between good and evil become blurred. \nLyric Theatre Company is honored to bring this work to our audiences on the Flynn Main Stage at a time when it is so important to celebrate the life and genius of Stephen Sondheim. \nAudio description will be available for the Sunday matinee and ASL interpretation will be offered Saturday evening.
