White + Burke value community and foster collaboration

Vermonters prioritize community. And community is a principal value of White + Burke Real Estate Advisors

The firm’s work with commercial real estate projects around the state has focused on achieving a business or institution’s goals, while making a positive impact in their respective communities for thirty years.

To provide superior outsourced real estate expertise for corporate, municipal, and institutional clients, White + Burke relies heavily on a community of colleague firms to offer a robust team approach. But when a community lacks support, someone has to take the lead to provide access to resources with a “rising tide floats all boats” mentality.

In 2014 and 2015, that’s exactly what White + Burke did. There was a significant lack of continuing education and networking exclusively focused on commercial development issues and partners. Thus, the Vermont Development Conference (VDC) was born. The following year, it became apparent that among the professionals in the industry, there was a lack of connectivity for the cross-section of rising leaders who would be succeeding the current partners and principals of the area’s lead firms. Thus, the semi-annual Next Generation Leaders (NGL) networking event began.

Since then, White + Burke has partnered with fellow industry leaders and like-minded businesses, to grow these industry-specific events into well-recognized and well-used resources.

About the Vermont Development Conference:

In 2014 White + Burke launched the VDC with the support (and continuing commitment) of Platinum Sponsors PC Construction and Downs Rachlin Martin (DRM).

Held annually in Burlington, this one-of-its-kind event brings together over 300 development and real estate professionals for a day of networking, seminars, and workshops. The VDC is aimed to grow businesses and communities by sharing relevant experiences and best practices. The day’s content is thoughtfully assembled over the course of the year by a planning committee comprised of representatives from a variety of disciplines including law, commercial lending, construction, architecture, engineering, brokerage, and more. Year after year, the VDC continues to meet a need for industry professionals looking to utilize and augment their respective communities.

About Next Generation of Leaders:

In 2015, White + Burke founded NGL to foster the advancement of young professionals in the real estate and development industry, with the support of founding members Murphy Sullivan Kronk (MSK), Vanasse Hangen Brustlin and DRM. Each event includes a short topical speaker and a focus on ample networking time to promote a vibrant next wave of community leaders. Recognizing the need for this legacy planning and talent cultivation, many firms have participated as sponsors to encourage the continued low-cost, fun, and accessible format of the event, including SE Group, Gravel & Shea, Mascoma Savings Bank, Whiting Turner, Redstone, ReArch, KAS, Housing Vermont, Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), and PC Construction.
