The Lake Champlain Chamber is pleased to learn that the long ordeal surrounding the valuable asset that is Burlington Telecom is coming to a close. The three finalists identified today each bring their own unique strengths and skills as potential owners. These will be of critical importance as we work to grow and strengthen our economy and the asset. The fiber network operated through BT is often cited as a critical factor for businesses across all sectors as they consider where to start or grow a business. It must be well nurtured and professionally stewarded.
The Chamber would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the Mayor, the City Council and members of the Burlington Telecom Advisory Board who have labored to bring about the best possible long-term solution to the BT issue. Also, we applaud all those who have made their views known through the numerous public forums that were held and through other communication channels. The process is one that all residents, business owners and interested parties can be proud.
