Director of Development and Communication, Community Health Centers of Burlington

1. Tell us a little about your current position.
I am the Director of Development and Communications for the Community Health Centers of Burlington (CHCB). My work includes public relations, advertising, partner organization collaborations, special events, federal and foundation grant management, and donor acquisition. As the spokesperson for CHCB, I’m dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of over 30,000 Vermonters from all walks of life and contributing to the excellence and effectiveness of comprehensive, wrap-around health care services in our community.

2. What’s new since you graduated from Leadership Champlain?
When I graduated from Leadership Champlain in 2013, I was the Development Manager at CHCB. Since then, I’ve been promoted to the Director of Development and Communications – and can now barely catch my breath!

3. What is your favorite Leadership Champlain memory?
My favorite memory was working with my group for the fall project. We were the first to present so had a shortened timeline to get everything done, but the group of these four other women were INCREDIBLE. Ranging in ages, professions and experience, we clicked immediately and to this day, still get together every few months to catch up. Since graduating, we’ve supported each other through so many difference life and professional changes and I feel fortunate to have such strong, intelligent and kind women in my life.

4. How has Leadership Champlain helped you get to where you are today?
There is a lot happening in our little state, so to participate in a program where I could learn about the various organizations, sectors and people who contribute to its expanse, was invaluable. It helped put a lot of pieces together about who does what, where and how which definitely helped me in my position at CHCB.

5. What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means empowering others to succeed. I’ve had mentors throughout the years who have given me confidence to fail, learn and grow to be comfortable in any environment. I now try to empower my staff to have the same freedoms.

6. Any final thoughts?
Nope! I <3 Leadership Champlain! 🙂
