SUMMARY:Virtual COTS Walk 2020
DESCRIPTION:Social distancing is physical\, not emotional. COTS is staying connected to our amazing supporters\, and we invite you to continue to connect with us through the 2020 Virtual COTS Walk. \nWhy go virtual?\nThe traditional COTS Walk brings thousands of supporters to Battery Park\, through the streets of Burlington\, and into homeless shelters and service locations where people sleep\, eat\, live\, and meet. This year\, we are happy to safely recommence that collective energy and communal support by holding the COTS Walk in a safe\, shared virtual space. \nFor the protection of COTS guests\, supporters\, volunteers\, and staff\, we will not gather in person this May. \nWe have so many exciting things to tell you this year\, sights to show you\, and experiences for you to partake it. Join us in this virtual journey. \nWhat is the Virtual COTS Walk?\nThe Virtual COTS Walk follows a 3.5-mile trek through downtown Burlington that replicates the path a person experiencing homelessness would travel to reach COTS shelters and services. We will take you into our program spaces to learn what its like and to see the places where your support is having a needed impact. \nWe will announce virtual walk activities soon—some interactive\, some educational\, and all of them fun things you can do from home and at responsible social distances. \nWhen you register for the walk\, you’ll get your own online profile page to help you reach out to friends\, families\, and colleagues and achieve your fundraising goal. \nThe 2020 COTS Walk Packet presents plentiful information about the path\, destinations\, and services. (We published it before going virtual\, so please excuse references to physical gatherings and—it breaks the heart to say—the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream that was planned for the end of the walk.)

SUMMARY:Webinar - Comcast Business: Keeping Cybercriminals at Bay - and Protecting Your Business
DESCRIPTION:Cybercriminals love a crisis. Amid the COVID-19 outbreaks\, companies are even more vulnerable than usual to cyberattacks. As more business owners move operations completely online and larger organizations are directing employees to work from home\, remote work means a rise in the number of devices employees are using and an increase in the use of online conferencing tools\, letting hackers cast a much wider net in which to snare potential targets. \nIn fact\, on March 13\, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)\, the Department of Homeland Security’s cyber agency\, issued an alert specifically addressing cyber vulnerabilities. The alert focuses on the risks associated with virtual private networks (VPNs)\, which many small businesses and most large organizations use to allow employees remote access to applications and workspaces. CISA has urged organizations to adopt a heightened state of cybersecurity to prevent against these attacks. \nJoin us on April 28 at 1 p.m. ET for “Keeping Cybercriminals at Bay—and Protecting Your Business—During a Crisis\,” a webinar from Comcast Business. We’ll outline the ways in which businesses represent targets for hackers\, what new challenges the COVID-19 crisis presents\, analysis of threat types\, and the steps companies are taking to mitigate cybersecurity risks during workplace and business disruption. \nPanelists:\nShena Seneca Tharnish\, Vice President\, Cybersecurity Products\, Comcast Business\nNoopur Davis\, EVP\, Chief Prod. & Info Security Officer

SUMMARY:Webinar - Comcast Business: Education and COVID 19: Remote Learning Tech Solutions
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has created global disruption on a scale not seen in the modern era. The education sector\, in particular\, has been deeply impacted. In fact\, a March 2020 report by the United Nations indicates that some 300 million schoolchildren worldwide unable to continue with school as a result of the outbreak. The domestic scope is just as daunting: In a single Seattle school district\, the virus has forced nearly 24\,000 students out of in-person classes. The solution many schools nationwide are turning to is remote learning. While some districts are well-prepared for the shift\, many find themselves without the needed technology to enable remote learning at all. \nJoin us on April 23 at 1 p.m. for “Education and Covid 19: Remote Learning Tech Solutions” a webinar from Comcast Business. We’ll explore the current state of remote learning\, from both educational and technology infrastructure perspectives; the current technology needs for educators; how the ramp-up has gone thus far; how networks and technologies will shift going forward; and what the remote learning landscape may look like in the long term. \nPanelists:\nLenny Schad\, Chief Information & Innovation Officer – District Administration\nNelson Ortiz\, Executive Director National Sales Engineering at Comcast Business.
